Program Overview

The UT Southwestern Medical Center Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is a newly emerging program currently holding pre-candidate status with ASHP. This program will accept one resident for each academic year.

Program Structure

The program will provide extensive Specialty Pharmacy experience through core rotations covering multiple specialty therapeutic categories. Residents will select three elective rotations to meet their professional goals in addition to the orientation to pharmacy operations and completion of practice-related required learning experiences.

• Ambulatory Care: Inflammatory Disease Focus
• Immunization Services
• Specialty Pharmacy: Solid Organ Transplant
• Transition of Care
• Pharmacy Administration
• Community Pharmacy: Patient-Centered Dispensing
• Ambulatory Care: Oncology
• Oncology Specialty Pharmacy: Care Coordination

Elective Learning Experiences

The following four-week elective rotations are available:

• Ambulatory Infusion
• Medication Therapy Management
• Pharmacy Informatics
• Health System Leadership

Longitudinal Learning Experiences

• Longitudinal Professional Development
• Teaching and Learning Curriculum (TLC) Program with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
• Major Research Project

Wellness and Professional Development

UT Southwestern's Pharmacy Residency programs offer robust longitudinal experiences centered on resident wellness and professional development. Throughout the year, residents will have access to UT Southwestern's employee support provider and participate in focused discussions on wellbeing and resiliency strategies.

Requirements

• Graduate from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program with a Pharm.D. degree
• Minimum GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale or "Pass" grade on each class and rotation if from a "Pass/Fail" program
• Eligibility for Texas licensure
• Formal interview
